Tsing Hua Hall of Fame(清華名人堂)
Designed by NTHU alumnus Chang Chang Hua(張昌華) and completed in 1965, the Bailing Hall is divided into two connected blocks. The A block was originally for entertaining guests, and was named the Bailing(Hundred Year)Hall in honor of Sun Yat Sen(孫中山), who would have been 100 years old in 1965 (according to the Chinese way of reckoning age). The B block originally provided guest accommodation, was later converted into a multi-functional meeting place, and in 2013 the construction was completed and it was named NTHU Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors outstanding members of the Tsinghua community. The lobby wall is embossed with busts of Mei Yi Chi(梅貽琦), who reestablished NTHU in Taiwan and served as its first president, along with four illustrious Tsinghua teachers: Wang Guo Wei(王國維), Liang Qi Chao(梁啟超), Chao Yuen Ren(趙元任), and Chen Yin Ke(陳寅恪). The five large characters on the name plaque are modeled on the calligraphy of Hu Shih(胡適). On the first floor is a reception hall with busts of Hu Shih(胡適), Yang Chen Ning(楊振寧), Lee Yuan Tseh(李遠哲), and Sun Li Jen(孫立人). On the second floor is the Alumni Center.
