Following the completion of the New Gymnasium in 1993, the Old Gymnasium（1971）was successively renamed the Badminton Gym and the Table Tennis Gym. The roof is in the form of a hyperbolic paraboloid shell, and resembles an upside down umbrella; the lack of interior pillars to support the high walls was considered quite innovative at the time. This award-winning building was designed by NTHU alumnus Chang Chang Hua（張昌華）.
