Go Pavilion(奕亭)

Located inside the Go Garden on the south side of campus, the Go Pavilion(2010)was sponsored by go enthusiasts and former NTHU presidents Shen Chun Shan(沈君山)and Liu Chung Laung(劉炯朗). Inside this simple wooden pavilion is a table with an inlaid go board. The calligraphy on the name plaque under the eave was written by Shen Chun Shan. The Go Pavilion was first erected, and afterwards the Garden was built around it, conforming to the original topography. This area has been designated an ecological zone, replete with a spring, a marsh, a stream, and an abundance of water plants, trees, insects, and songbirds, some of which are migratory birds which come here to spend the winter. The Go Garden has a pathway flanked with signs explaining go, steles commemorating past go masters, and paving slabs inscribed with the text of The Ten Commandments of Go. The tranquility and natural beauty of this pathway are highly conducive to aesthetic appreciation and quiet contemplation.
