Shou-de Memorial Rock Climbing Ground(守德紀念岩場)

Located next to the Athletics Field, the Rock Climbing Ground is named after NTHU alumnus and rock climbing enthusiast Wang Shou De(王守德). While serving as the head of the NTHU Mountaineering Society in 1997, Wang convinced the Office of Student Affairs to allocate nearly NT$1 million to construct a rock climbing wall attached to the outside of the Activity Center; the 8-meter-high and 3-meter-wide wall was the first such facility in the Hsinchu area. Afterwards, Wang died in an avalanche while climbing in Central Asia, and in his honor the Mountaineering Society raised funds and built the current the 15-meter-high and 3-meter-wide Rock Climbing Ground(2006).
