Butterfly Garden(蝴蝶園)

Located behind the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with the Philosophers Path, the Orchid Path, and the Ci Pool, the Butterfly Garden(2002)is planted with over 100 species of flora, which have attracted a large number of butterflies. In addition to providing an ideal habitat for butterflies, the Garden also has educational and research functions. In 2015 the Butterfly Garden was placed under the supervision of the Interdisciplinary Science Education Center of the Office of Academic Affairs, laying the foundation for its sustainable operation. The butterfly garden is managed and looked after by student volunteers, as well as a few outside lepidopterists. To date, 142 butterfly species have been recorded in the Garden, including a pale blue tiger(Tirumala ishmoides南島淡紋青斑蝶)from the Philippines—the first sighting of this butterfly in Taiwan. In addition to butterflies, the Garden also attracts a steady stream of human visitors from Taiwan and abroad.
