In response to the United States’ severing of official diplomatic relations in 1979, the ROC government began to promote the slogan “Ever poised in the face of change, reverentially self-reliant”（chupien puching, chungching tzuchiang處變不驚，莊敬自強）, which was used for naming various public facilities across Taiwan.
